INDEPENDENT WILDLIFE TOUR – ROUND-TRIP FROM VANCOUVER

 

Arrive in Vancouver 

DAY 1 

Arrive in Vancouver and be met at the airport for a private transfer to your downtown hotel for a three-night stay.

 

Vancouver Sightseeing 

DAY 2 

Today you have a day at leisure to explore the coastal city of Vancouver, with recommended visits to Granville Market, Gastown and Stanley Park. Here you can spend time at the Vancouver Aquarium, a non-pro t organisation dedicated to the conservation of aquatic life, and home to sea otters, beluga whales and many other animals.

 

Sea Safari 

DAY 3 

Today you will enjoy a two-hour cruise aboard a Zodiac vessel through Howe Sound, North America’s southernmost fjord, to experience wildlife up close. Pass through Pam Rocks, to see harbour seals and keep a watch out for bald eagles, herons, cormorants and dolphins as you head through the Strait of Georgia.

 

Victoria 

DAY 4 

Today you will travel by coach and ferry to Victoria, British Columbia’s capital city on Vancouver Island. The ferry ride through the Strait of Georgia offers another opportunity to see marine birds, seals and porpoises. Upon arrival in Victoria, you will check in to your hotel for a two-night stay.

 

Whale-Watching 

DAY 5 

Today you will embark on a thrilling excursion in search of orcas, minke whales, seals, porpoises and other marine life. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Victoria.

 

Tofino 

DAY 6 

Today you will transfer by coach or mini-van to Tofino. The journey leads you across Vancouver Island to the Pacific Coast, winding through ancient rainforests and provincial parks. Upon arrival you will check into your hotel for a three-night stay.

 

Black Bear-Watching 

DAY 7 

Today, at low tide, you will board a boat and travel along the lush coastline to see bears foraging on the shore in search of rock crab – their favourite food. Following the tour the rest of the day is at leisure.

 

Whale-Watching 

DAY 8 

Today you will enjoy a thrilling whale-watching excursion. Pacific gray whales are visitors from March to October and this excursion takes you through the pristine waters of Clayoquat Sound to view the stunning scenery and wildlife.

 

Campbell River 

DAY 9 

Today you will travel by coach or mini-van to the east coast of Vancouver Island and check into the Comfort Inn and Suites for the start of your Knight Inlet Lodge package.

 

Knight Inlet Lodge 

DAY 10 

Today you will travel by floatplane to Knight Inlet Lodge, your eco-adventure destination. The inlet is a remote area and the lodge itself is tucked in Glendale Cove which is home to a large concentration of grizzly and black bears. On arrival you’ll receive a welcome orientation, followed by a cruise in the estuary and then a bear-viewing tour. Depending on the season this may be by boat (spring/early summer) or from a secure viewing platform (autumn). Lunch and dinner are included today.

 

Vancouver 

DAY 11 

After breakfast today you will travel by floatplane back to Campbell River and then by mini-van to the airport for your  flight to Vancouver Airport (south terminal) where your tour arrangements end.
